Doncaster’s Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board

The Healthier Doncaster Theme Group was formerly known as Doncaster Health and Wellbeing Partnership. Its role was to act as an umbrella group for the health and social care organisations in Doncaster. When the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) was introduced it took on the role of Key Strategic Partnership under the former Doncaster Strategic Partnership (DSP). The Healthier Doncaster Theme Group is one of five Strategic Theme Groups to support the work of the Doncaster Together Board.

  1. The Healthier Doncaster Theme Group's membership consists of:

  • Doncaster MBC Elected Members

  • Director of Doncaster MBC Adult Services

  • NHS Doncaster

  • Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospital Foundation NHS Trust

  • Rotherham, Doncaster & South Humber Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

  • Doncaster CVS

  • Doncaster Community Empowerment Network

Representatives from the health sector, local authority sector and voluntary / community sector chair the Board on an annual rotational basis.

The Healthier Doncaster Theme Group maintains a strategic overview of health and social care issues in Doncaster and acts as the link to the Doncaster Discover the Spirit Board for the health and social care community.

The Partnership’s strength, in health and social care terms, is that it is the only forum where all the major players of the various organisations come together. That places it in an ideal position to guide the strategic direction of activity in this area and achieve consensus on the way forward in maximising the health and well being of the population.
